Women’s Tennis Falls 7-2 to Saxons

The Keuka women’s tennis team dropped its second straight match to open the 2009-10 season as they fell by a score of 7-2 to the Saxons of Alfred University on the road Saturday.

Keuka now sits at 0-2 overall while Alfred improves to 7-4 on the season.

The Storm were able to snatch victories in the second and fifth flights of singles while dropping all three doubles matches.

Senior Alison Liberty (South Berwick, ME/Marshwood) won her No. 2 singles match by a score of 6-4, 6-3.  It was Liberty’s first win of the season.  Rookie Brin Benjamin (Carlisle, PA/Carlisle) won her first-ever collegiate match in the fifth flight by a score of 6-4, 7-5.

Liberty and junior Megan McGowan (Batavia, N.Y./Batavia) almost won the top flight of doubles, falling by a score of 8-6.

Keuka will next play host to Roberts Wesleyan College this Wednesday, Sept. 30 beginning at 4 pm.
