The Keuka women’s soccer dominated the possession of the ball and the shot totals but still fell 1-0 to the visiting Saxons of Alfred University on Tuesday.

Keuka drops to 3-5 overall while dropping its second straight 1-0 decision to an Empire 8 Conference team.  Alfred improves to 3-5-1 on the year.

Keuka out-shot Alfred 30-7 for the game and limited the Saxons to just two shots on goal in 90 minutes.  Unfortunately for Keuka, one of those two shots snuck past Keuka’s keeper in the 13th minute of play.  Alfred’s Erika Garrett floated a shot over the top of junior goalie Ashley Vail (Rochester, N.Y./Churchville-Chili) to give the Saxons the lead.

The Storm out-shot Alfred 15-6 in the opening half and 15-1 in the second half but couldn’t find the back of the net.  Vail finished with one save in goal while her counterpart stopped 11 shots to pick up the shutout.

Keuka will next play at Penn State-Berks this Saturday, Oct. 3 beginning at 1 pm.
