Rookie Christian Sterner's first-career goal was the game-winner.

The men’s soccer team picked up its fifth shutout of the season as they knocked off the Mustangs of SUNY Morrisville by a score of 2-0 on the road Wednesday.

The win moves Keuka to 6-3-1 overall while Morrisville falls to 3-6-1.

The Storm out-shot the Mustangs 17-4 in the game while allowing just one shot on goal.  Keuka would tally a score in each half.

Freshman Christian Sterner (Castorland, N.Y./Lowville) got Keuka started with his first career collegiate goal in the 44th minute (43:58).  Sterner’s goal, the eventual game-winner, came off a corner kick by junior Jack Reece (Rochester, N.Y./Churchville-Chili).

Reece would score his team-leading fifth goal in the 68th minute (67:56) off an unassisted shot.  Reece’s three points on the day give him 12 on the season.

Senior goalie Mike Meskill (Trumansburg, N.Y./Charles O. Dickerson) only had to stop one shot all day to pick up his 23rd career shutout.  Morrisville’s Greg Igglesden made five saves.

Keuka will next play host to Penn State-Harrisburg this Saturday, Oct. 10 beginning at 3 pm.
