Cunningham’s First Career Goal Wins it For Storm
October 11, 2009

Freshman Reis Cunningham's first career goal was the game-winner.
Freshman Reis Cunningham (Red Creek, N.Y./Red Creek) broke a 1-1 tie late in the game to give the Storm a 2-1 win over the visiting Nittany Lions of Penn State-Harrisburg on Saturday.
With the win, Keuka improves to 7-3-1 overall while Harrisburg falls to 3-10.
Keuka was actually out-shot 16-14 but received goals from two unlikely players to pull off the win. After neither team was able to score in the opening 45 minutes, senior defender Ian Loos (Elizabethtown, KY/West Genesee) got the Storm on the board just 50 seconds into the second half. After a corner kick, senior Kelin Wheaton (Cameron Mills, N.Y./Jasper-Troupsburg) fed Loos in front of the goal who shot the ball past Harrisburg;s goalie for his first goal of the season.
Harrisburg’s leading scorer, Danny Francis, tied the game in the 67th minute (66:42) with his 15th goal of the season. Head Coach Matt Tantalo then switched Cunningham from the backfield up to the midfield position. The switch paid off as Cunningham netted his first career goal with under eight minutes to go (82:42) to give the Storm the win.
Senior Mike Meskill (Truamsnburg, N.Y./Charles O. Dickerson) collected four saves in goal while Harrisburg’s Charlie Hyson had two saves.
Keuka will next play host to Nazareth College on Tuesday, October 20 at 4 pm.
