Junior Chelsea Socha (Himrod, N.Y./Dundee) continued her unbelievable Spring as she bested 72 other runners while winning the Nazareth College Golden Flyer Invitational on Saturday.

Keuka finished sixth out of nine teams with a team score of 131 as the host Golden Flyers won the race with a 24.  Daemen College placed second (78) and was followed by Alfred State (91), SUNY ESF (109), and D’Youville College (124).

Socha, who broke the school record for a 6K race last week, broke the 4K record this week with a time of 15:53.  The previous record was 16:11 set back in 2005 by Kasi Sanders.  Socha averaged a 6:24 mile.

Rookies Stephanie Pontes (Pompton Lakes, NJ/Pompton Lakes) and Elizabeth Gorman (Waverly, N.Y./Waverly) were second and third for the Storm in 34th and 39th place.  Pontes ran in a time of 18:33 while Gorman finished with a time of 19:07.

Sophomore Maddie Reynolds (Clinton, N.Y./Clinton) was 61st overall (22:46) while junior Mary Nicholas (Geneva, N.Y./DeSales) was 62nd (22:50).

Keuka will run its last race before the NEAC Championships this Saturday, Oct. 17 at Seneca Lake in the Hobart College Race.
