Junior Chelsea Socha (Himrod, N.Y./Dundee) finished off rewriting the Keuka women’s cross country record book this past Saturday as she set a new 5K record.  Socha now has all three (4K, 5K, and 6K) records in her first season on the team.

Socha placed first overall out of 84 runners at the Cross Country Only Conference (CCOC) Championships held at Seneca Lake, in Geneva in a time of 19:44.  Twelve seconds ahead of the second place finisher.  Keuka finished with a team score of 167 to take seventh out of 20 schools.  Daemen College won the race with a team score of 37.

Freshman Stephanie Pontes (Pompton Lakes, NJ/Pompton Lakes) took 29th overall in a time of 22:14 while classmate Elizabeth Gorman (Waverly, N.Y./Waverly) was 42nd overall (22:51).  Sophomores Heather Fischer (Marietta, N.Y./Tully) and Maddie Reynolds (Clinton, N.Y./Clinton) were Keuka’s fourth and fifth finishers in 66th (25:53) and 68th (26:31) place, respectively.

Keuka will next compete in the NEAC Championships on Saturday, Oct. 31 at SUNYIT.
