Geers and Meskill Tabbed as Athletes of the Week

Keuka College selected junior volleyball player Katy Geers (Fulton, N.Y./G. Ray Bodley) and senior men’s soccer star Mike Meskill (Trumansburg, N.Y./Charles O. Dickerson) as its Athletes of the Week for the week ending Oct. 24.

Geers, the Storm’s (12-15) top setter, led Keuka to a 2-0 week against North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) foe’s.  In a 3-0 sweep of the College of St. Elizabeth, Geers led the Storm with 16 assists as the team posted an attack percentage of .363.  In a 3-1 win over Penn State-Berks, she had 15 assists, three aces, and 12 digs.  Geers, an All-NEAC third team selection last season, has a team-high 330 assists and is fifth on the team in digs with 114.

Meskill, the Storm’s (7-5-1) goalie, finished with 22 saves despite Keuka dropping both of its games.  In a 3-2 loss to Nazareth College, Meskill weathered 30 shots while stopping 12.  It was the only game all season that he has allowed more then a goal in a game.  He followed that up with a 10-save performance in a 1-0 double overtime loss to SUNYIT.  Meskill kept the Wildcats scoreless for the first 101 minutes.  He has 76 saves on the season with a .884 save percentage.
