Men’s Hoop Stars Named Athletes of the Week

The Keuka College men’s basketball team received great games from its two star juniors Diamond Booker (Bronx, N.Y./Fredrick Douglas Douglas Acad.) and Calvin Logins (Newark, N.Y./Lyons) in its 85-51 defeat of SUNY Canton this past week. The duo were named Keuka Athletes of the Week for their performances.
Booker, the team’s 6-7 center, earns his second straight Keuka Athlete of the Week honor. He finished with his third double-double out of the team’s four games with 12 points and 11 rebounds. Booker went 6-for-9 from the floor while also picking up an assist, a block, and a steal. On the season, he is averaging 10.5 points and 13.3 rebounds a game.
Logins, the team’s leading scorer after four games, went off for a game-high 22 points while also pulling down 10 rebounds and collecting seven steals. He went 10-for-16 from the floor and had three assists and two blocks. For the season, he is averaging 18.8 points and 9.3 rebounds a contest.
Logins Leads Storm to Second Straight Win

Junior Calvin Logins had 22 points, 10 rebounds, and seven steals in the win.
Led by junior Calvin Logins (Newark, N.Y./Lyons) second straight double-double, the Keuka College men’s basketball team defeated the Kangaroos of SUNY Canton by a score of 85-51 on the road Tuesday.
Keuka picks up its second straight win and improves to 2-2 overall while Canton slips to 1-6 overall.
Keuka shot an impressive 54% (36-for-67) from the floor while holding Canton to just 30% (20-for-66). The Storm drained 16 first half field goals (47%) to hold a 37-24 halftime lead. Keuka really caught fire in the second half, as they went off for 48 points on 60% shooting. The Storm held a 44-36 rebound advantage while recording 12 more steals (13-1). Read more

Junior Hoop Stars Nab Athlete of the Week Honors

Keuka College junior basketball players Diamond Booker (Bronx, N.Y./Fredrick Douglas Acad.) and Brittany Schrock (Elmira Heights, N.Y./Thomas Edison) were named Athletes of the Week after a big start to the team’s season.
Booker, a 6′7″ center, had three big games as he led Keuka to a 1-2 week. He had two double-doubles in three games and was named to the SUNYIT Wildcat Tip-Off All-Tournament Team. In the Storm’s season-opener against Alfred University, he had 11 points, 19 rebounds (12 offensive), and five blocks. He followed that up with eight points, eight rebounds and a block against Utica College. The next day against St. Joseph (VT.), he had 11 points, 15 rebounds (seven offensive), and two blocks. He is currenty averaging 10 points and 14 rebounds a game.
Schrock, a 5′7″ guard, had a huge week as she tallied 58 points (19.3 per game) while hitting 10 3-pointers in three games. In Keuka’s season-opener against William Smith College, Schrock went off for a career-high 28 points while making three 3-pointers. Her next game against Alfred University, she had a double-double with 11 points and 11 rebounds while making two long balls. In her final game of the week, a win over SUNY Canton, she went 5-for-6 from behind the arc and 7-for-10 from the floor while pumping in 19 points. She was Keuka’s leading scorer in all three games and is averaging 19.3 points a game.
Men’s Hoops Splits at SUNYIT Tourney; Booker Named to All-Tourney Team

Junior Diamond Booker was named to the SUNYIT All-Tournament Team.
The Keuka College men’s basketball split at the SUNYIT Wildcat Tip-off Tournament. The Storm fell to Utica College (3-0) by a score of 76-54 on Friday. The Storm then picked up its first win of the season with a 71-65 win over St. Joseph of Vermont (2-3) on Saturday.
Keuka now stands at 1-2 on the year. SUNYIT won the Tournament as they defeated Utica 71-58 in the championship.
Against Utica, The Storm were done in by sensational shooting by the Pioneers who went 31-for-65 from the floor (48%). Keuka was 19-for-64 (30%) and were outscored by 10 in the opening half and 12 in the second half. Read more
Women’s Hoops Picks Up First Win of Season in Rout of Canton

Junior Nicki Zahn led Keuka with four assists while adding six points.
The Keuka College women’s basketball team picked up its first win of the season while routing the visiting Kangaroos of SUNY Canton by a score of 63-38 on Saturday.
The Storm had 11 different players score led by a game-high 19 points from junior Brittany Schrock (Elmira Heights, N.Y./Thomas Edison) as they improve to 1-2 on the season. Canton slips to 1-3 overall.
Keuka held an 18-point (36-18) advantage at the break after holding Canton to just six first half field goals (23%). The Storm went 14-for-33 (42%) from the floor in the opening half including 7-of-13 from behind the arc. The second half saw Keuka outscore Canton 27-20 while both teams had a field goal percentage in the 20’s. For the game, the Storm out-rebounded the Kangaroos 51-41 while Keuka had 21 turnovers to Canton’s 25. Read more

Men’s Basketball Drops Season Opener to Alfred

Junior Diamond Booker had 11 points, 19 rebounds, and five blocks.
The Keuka men’s basketball team lost by a score of 75-66 in its season-opening game to the Saxons of Alfred University on the road Tuesday. Alfred picks up its first win of the year as they improve to 1-1.
The Saxons shot 36% (12-for-33) from the floor in the opening half to grab a 29-22 halftime lead. Keuka shot 31% (9-for-29) in the opening half.
The Saxons stormed out of the gates in the second half building its lead to as many as 20 points (58-38) with just 8:24 remaining. Keuka’s Calvin Logins (Newark, N.Y./Lyons) then scored 17 points in just 3:21 seconds to get the Storm to within two (66-64). A pair of free throws by Diamond Booker (Bronx, N.Y./Fredrick Douglas Acad.) tied the game up with 3:08 remaining in the game. Keuka was unable to score after that as Alfred’s netted the game’s next nine points.
For the game, Keuka shot 36% (24-for-67) while Alfred shot 42% (27-for-64). Alfred pulled down five more boards (46-41) then the Storm. Read more
