The Keuka women’s soccer team routed the Nittany Lions of Penn State-Abington by a score of 9-0 on Saturday in its final regular season game.

Keuka ends the regular season with an 8-7 overall record and an 8-2 conference mark while Abington falls to 0-16-1 overall and 0-9 in the NEAC.

The Storm out-shot the Nittany Lions 39-3 while scoring four goals in the opening half and five in the second half.  Keuka also had 12 corner kicks to Abington’s one.

Keuka wasted no time in grabbing the lead as rookie Nicole Sharick (Corfu, N.Y./Pembroke) headed in a goal just 1:27 into the game.  Junior Courtney McLaughlin (Warsaw, N.Y./Letchworth) would add two goals in the next seven minutes, both assisted by Sharick.  Senior Alyssa Gumtow (Farmington, N.Y./Victor) gave Keuka a 4-0 lead just before intermission off an assist from freshman Terin Brown (Wayland, N.Y./Wayland-Cohocton).

Sharick would again open a half with a quick goal, this time just 48 seconds into the second half.  The goal is Sharick’s ninth of the season and her six points in the game gave her a team-high 25 on the year.

Junior Alyssa Hermenet (Williamson, N.Y./Williamson) gave Keuka a 6-0 lead with her eighth goal of the season in the 50th minute (49:14).  Hermenet then set up senior Jessica VanScoter (Canisteo, N.Y./Canisteo-Greenwood) for the Storm’s seventh goal.  Rookie Michelle Biagi (Willow Grove, PA/Upper Moreland) would score the Storm’s final two goals, one coming off an assist from Brown.

Junior Ashley Vail (Rochester, N.Y./Churchville-Chili) had three saves in goal while picking up her fifth shutout of the season.  Abington’s Sam Leybman had 18 saves.

Keuka will next play a play-in game in the NEAC Tournament this Tuesday, Nov. 3 against Wells College beginning at 4 pm.
