Storm Take 6th at NEAC’s; Matheis Earns 3rd Team Honors

The Keuka College men’s cross country team took sixth out of nine teams at the North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) Championships held at SUNYIT on Saturday.

Keuka finished the 8K race with a final score of 158.  SUNY Cobleskill took home the NEAC crown with its score of 20.  SUNYIT was second with an 80 while the University of Dallas (98), Cazenovia College (107), and Wells College (128) rounded out the top-five.

Sophomore Scott Matheis (Barker, N.Y./Barker) led the way for the Storm with his 19th place finish out of 65 runners.  He ran the race in a time of 31:40 and averaged a 6:23 mile.  His finish earned him a spot on the All-NEAC third team.

Junior Kraig Connor (Rochester, N.Y./Greece Olympia) finished in 34th place in a time of 33:17 while classmate Chris Mazella (Depew, N.Y./Depew) ran in 39th place (34:21).

Rookie David Parker (Syracuse, N.Y./ESM) placed fourth for Keuka in 45th place (35:28) while junior Josh Uline (Rochester, N.Y./Brighton) was 48th overall (36:04).
