Salo and Socha Garner Athlete of the Week Honors

Juniors Kyle Salo (Red Creek, N.Y./Red Creek) and Chelsea Socha (Himrod, N.Y./Dundee) have been named Keuka College Athletes of the Week for the week ending Oct. 31.
Salo, a goalie on Keuka’s 8-6-1 men’ssoccer team, lifted the Storm to a 2-0 shutout over the No. 1 team in the conference, Penn State-Abington. making the shutout even more impressive is the fact that it was Salo’s first start of the season. He finished with seven saves in goals while facing 16 shots.
Socha continued her dominance on the cross country paths as she won the North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) Championships to earn NEAC Runner of the Year honors. She ran the 5K race, held at SUNYIT, in a time of 20:19 setting a pace of 6:33. She bested a runner from the College of St. Elizabeth by one second. Her performance helped Keuka take home sixth place out of 10 teams.
