Volleyball Splits on Second Day of NEAC Tourney

The Keuka volleyball team split its two matches on the second day of the North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) Tournament held at Penn State-Berks on Saturday.  The Storm fell 3-1 to the #4 seeded Crusaders of the University of Dallas before defeating the #8 seeded Nittany Lions of Penn State-Berks by the same score.

Keuka, now 14-18 overall, advances to the final day of the Tournament and will square off against SUNYIT on Sunday, Nov. 8.

Against Dallas, Keuka dropped the first two sets (21-25 & 17-25) before taking the third set (25-22).  The Storm fell 14-25 in the fourth set.  Keuka posted a team attack percentage of .065 while recording 13 blocks.  Junior Raelle Naegely (Colorado Springs, CO/Pine Creek) led the offense with seven kills while senior Holly McHale (Carthage, N.Y./Jefferson CC) added five kills and a match-high 21 digs.  Junior Sarah Fredricks (Milton, Ontario/E.C. Drury) added five kills and a match-high 4.5 blocks.  Fellow junior Katy Geers (Fulton, N.Y./G. Ray Bodley) had 14 assists, five aces, and 10 digs.

Against the Nittany Lions, Keuka eased to a opening set win (25-14) but dropped the second set (21-25).  The Storm then won (25-22 & 25-18) to secure the victory.  Keuka again had 13 team blocks while posting a .173 attack percentage.  McHale led the way with a match-high 17 kills while adding 12 digs.  Junior Heather Fish (Newfield, N.Y./Newfield) added nine kills and had seven assisted blocks (3.5 total).  Geers passed off 20 assists.
