Seven Women’s Soccer Players Named to All-NEAC Teams

Senior kelly Josephson was selected to the All-NEAC first team.
The Keuka women’s soccer team enjoyed another strong season in the North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) as they went 8-2 and will be representing the conference in the NCAA Tournament for a second straight year.
The team was rewarded for its excellent play as seven Storm players were named to the All-Conference teams. Led by senior defender Kelly Josephson (Jamestown, N.Y./Maple Grove) and junior midfielder Alyssa Hermenet (Williamson, N.Y./Williamson) who were both selected to the first team.
Josephson, the 2008 NEAC Player of the Year and Tournament MVP, helped Keuka allow just six goals in 10 NEAC games while holding all of its opponents to just a 0.92 goals scored average. She recorded a goal and an assist from her sweeper position. Hermenet, also an All-NEAC first team selection last season, was third on the team in scoring with 17 points. She recorded eight goals to go along with one assist while netting four game-wining goals.
Picked to the second team were junior forward Courtney McLaughlin (Warsaw, N.Y./Letchworth) and senior midfielder Jessica VanScoter (Canisteo, N.Y./Canisteo-Greenwood). McLaughlin is second on the team in points with 29 while leading the Storm with 14 goals. VanScoter, a third team selection last season, had three goals and four assists for 10 points.
Selected to the third team were rookie forward Nicole Sharick (Corfu, N.Y./Pembroke), junior defender Molly McGuigan (Conklin, N.Y./Susquehanna Valley), and junior goalie Ashley Vail (Rochester, N.Y./Churchville-Chili). Sharick led the team in scoring while netting 11 goals to go with nine assists (31 points). She also had four game-winning goals, including one in the Storm’s NEAC Tournament semifinal overtime 2-1 win over SUNYIT. McGuigan, a second team selection last season, scored a goal while playing terrific defense all season. Vail, a second team pick a season ago, stopped 74 shots in goal while finishing with six shutouts.
