The Keuka College women’s basketball team dropped a low-scoring game to the Saxons of Alfred University by a score of 53-43 on the road Tuesday.

Keuka slips to 0-2 on the year while Alfred improves to 2-0.

Keuka had a chance late in the game as junior Nadia Madmoune’s (Rome, N.Y./Rome Free Academy) bucket at the six minute mark cut the Saxons lead to just four (45-41).  Neither team was able to score for the next four and a half minutes until Alfred sank a 3-pointer to seal the win.

Keuka led virtually the entire first half until Alfred tied it just before the half.  For the game, the Storm shot just 29% (14-for-48) while Alfred shot 35% (20-for-58).  Keuka went just 4-of-19 from behind the arc.  The Storm won the battle of the boards by 12 (44-32).

For the second game in a row it was junior Brittany Schrock (Elmira Heights, N.Y./Thomas Edison) leading the way for Keuka.  Schrock posted a double-double as she had a team-high 11 points and 11 rebounds.  Rookie Mariah Mouzon (Elmira Heights, N.Y./Elmira Free Academy) just missed a double-double as she netted eight points to go with her 10 boards.

Junior Jessica Fink (New Oxford, PA/New Oxford) sank two 3-pointers to finish with eight points while Madmoune had six points and eight rebounds.

The Storm will next play its first home game of the 2009-10 season as they welcome SUNY Canton this Saturday, Nov. 21 for a 2 pm tip-off.
