Men’s Hoops Splits at SUNYIT Tourney; Booker Named to All-Tourney Team

The Keuka College men’s basketball split at the SUNYIT Wildcat Tip-off Tournament.  The Storm fell to Utica College (3-0) by a score of 76-54 on Friday.  The Storm then picked up its first win of the season with a 71-65 win over St. Joseph of Vermont (2-3) on Saturday.

Keuka now stands at 1-2 on the year.  SUNYIT won the Tournament as they defeated Utica 71-58 in the championship.

Against Utica, The Storm were done in by sensational shooting by the Pioneers who went 31-for-65 from the floor (48%).  Keuka was 19-for-64 (30%) and were outscored by 10 in the opening half and 12 in the second half.

Senior guard Alex Coleman (Elmira, N.Y./Elmira Southside) netted a team-high 17 points while junior Calvin Logins (Newark, N.Y./Lyons) missed a double-double by one rebound with 15 points, nine boards, and two blocks. 

Junior center Diamond Booker (Bronx, N.Y./Fredrick Douglas Acad.) added eight points and eight rebounds.

Versus St. Joseph, Keuka found themselves down three at the break (32-29).  The Storm were able to mount a huge comeback thanks to 19 made free throws as they outscored St. Joseph 42-33 in the second half.  For the game, Keuka shot 33% (21-for-63) while St. Joseph shot 36% (25-for-70).

Senior Peter Durr (Barneveld, N.Y./Utica Notre Dame) led Keuka with 18 points while making three 3-pointers.  Logins picked up his first career double-double with 16 points and 11 rebounds.  Booker had a huge game with 11 points, 15 rebounds, and two blocks as he was named to the All-Tournament Team. 

Freshman Ryan Klimek (Rochester, N.Y./Greece Aracdia) scored 10 points while classmate Teddy Tuggles (Rochester, N.Y./Gates Chili) added eight points and four assists.

The Storm will next play at SUNY Canton this Tuesday, Nov. 24 beginning at 7 pm.
