Junior Hoop Stars Nab Athlete of the Week Honors

Keuka College junior basketball players Diamond Booker (Bronx, N.Y./Fredrick Douglas Acad.) and Brittany Schrock (Elmira Heights, N.Y./Thomas Edison) were named Athletes of the Week after a big start to the team’s season.

Booker, a 6′7″ center,  had three big games as he led Keuka to a 1-2 week.  He had two double-doubles in three games and was named to the SUNYIT Wildcat Tip-Off All-Tournament Team.  In the Storm’s season-opener against Alfred University, he had 11 points, 19 rebounds (12 offensive), and five blocks.  He followed that up with eight points, eight rebounds and a block against Utica College.  The next day against St. Joseph (VT.), he had 11 points, 15 rebounds (seven offensive), and two blocks.  He is currenty averaging 10 points and 14 rebounds a game.

Schrock, a 5′7″ guard, had a huge week as she tallied 58 points (19.3 per game) while hitting 10 3-pointers in three games.  In Keuka’s season-opener against William Smith College, Schrock went off for a career-high 28 points while making three 3-pointers.  Her next game against Alfred University, she had a double-double with 11 points and 11 rebounds while making two long balls.  In her final game of the week, a win over SUNY Canton, she went 5-for-6 from behind the arc and 7-for-10 from the floor while pumping in 19 points.  She was Keuka’s leading scorer in all three games and is averaging 19.3 points a game.
