The Keuka College men’s basketball team suffered a 69-45 loss to the No. 2 Cardinals of St. John Fisher College in the first round of the Wendy’s College Classic at home on Wednesday.

The Storm drop its second straight game and now stand at 4-5 overall while the Cardinals improve to 11-2 on the season.

Fisher jumped out to an early 8-0 lead and didn’t look back as they posted 16 first half field goals enroute to a 36-22 halftime lead.  Keuka shot 25% (7-for-28) from the floor in the opening half. 

The Storm cut the Cardinals lead to 10 with just under 15 minutes to play, but were outscored 30-16 over the rest of the game.  Keuka shot 28% (13-for-46) from the floor while Fisher shot 42% (28-for-67).  Fisher took advantage of its size as they out-rebounded the Storm 54-26 while grabbing 21 offensive boards.  Keuka hit five 3-pointers while limiting the Cardinals to just one in nine attempts.

Junior center Diamond Booker (Bronx, N.Y./Fredrick Douglas Academy) did his best to keep the Storm in it as he posted a team-high 14 points.  Booker went 2-for-5 from the floor and 10-for-15 from the free throw line while adding six boards and a game-high four blocks.

Senior Peter Durr (Barneveld, N.Y./Utica Notre Dame) added eight points while junior Calvin Logins (Lyons, N.Y./Newark) chipped in with seven points and six rebounds.

Fisher was paced by Jason Norsen who had a game-high 18 points.  Matt Newman added 12 points, seven rebounds, and five assists.

Keuka will next face off against No. 3 Nazareth College, who were upset 73-56 by No. 6 R.I.T., this Friday, Jan. 15 at the University of Rochester.  Tip-off is 3:30 pm.
