Storm Cruise to Easy Win Over Mustangs

The women’s basketball team bumped their winning streak to three-games by beating the Mustangs of SUNY Morrisville on the road by a score of 59-33 on Wednesday.

Keuka’s record now stands at 8-5 while Morrisville drops to 3-15 on the year.

The Storm’s defense swarmed over the Mustangs in the first half holding Morrisville to only 11 points and a 12% field goal percentage (4-for-33).  Keuka gained an early lead, shooting 33% (13-for-32) from the field while scoring 33 points in the first half.

The Mustangs fought back in the second half by scoring 22 points while shooting 35% (10-for-28) from the field.  The Storm cooled off a little from the first half but still outscored Morrisville by putting up 26 points while shooting 37% (11-for-29) from the field.  The Storm continued to dominate the boards by out-rebounding their opponent 57-32.

The Storm were led by junior forward Morgan Engelbert (Elmira Heights, N.Y./ Thomas Edison) who had season highs of 12 points and 12 rebounds.  It was also Engelbert’s first career double-double.

Freshman Latasha Santana (Rochester, N.Y./East) added eights points and three rebounds.  Freshman center Mariah Mouzon (Elmira Heights, N.Y./Elmira Free) added six points and three rebounds. Senior Joycelynn Crapp (Sylvester, GA/Worth County) chipped in with six points, a game-high five steals, and four rebounds.

Morrisville was led by Katrina Brown who had a game-high 21 points.

Keuka will next play at home, this Saturday Jan. 30 against Wilson College beginning at 1 pm.
