Junior Nadia Madmoune posted another double-double.

The Keuka College women’s basketball team suffered through a poor shooting night and had its six-game winning streak snapped by the Fighting Tigers of SUNY Cobleskill by a score of 55-52 on the road Saturday.

Keuka slips to 11-6 overall and suffers just its first loss to a North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) opponent this season.  Cobleskill, who was the Storm’s lone loss last season to a NEAC foe, improves to 13-4 overall.

Trailing the majority of the second half, Keuka got within two (51-49) with 49 seconds left on a jumper by Nadia Madmoune (Rome, N.Y./Rome Free Academy).  But a costly turnover and a missed 3-pointer, coupled with Cobleskill making 4-of-6 free throws, gave the Fighting Tigers the game.

The Storm managed to get off six more shots in the first half (31-25) but only shot 29% while Cobleskill used its 40% shooting to claim a five-point (25-20) lead at the break.  The Storm picked it up a little in the second half as they out-scored Cobleskill 32-30, but the Fighting Tigers improved to 56% shooting while making 9-of-13 free throws to stay ahead.  Keuka forced 27 turnovers but lost the battle of the boards (38-36).

Madmoune had a big game with a game-high 17 points and 12 rebounds for a double-double.  She went 8-for-9 from the floor and added three assists and three steals.

Junior guards Jessica Fink (New Oxford, PA/New Oxford) and Brittany Schrock (Elmira Heights, N.Y./Thomas Edison) each added eight points a piece.

Cobleskill was led by Heidi Anderson and her 17 points while Kaitlin Myers added eight points, 11 rebounds, and five blocks.

Keuka will next play against SUNYIT on the road this Sunday, Feb. 7 beginning at 1 p.m.
