The men’s basketball team suffered a close loss on the road against the Fighting Tigers of SUNY Cobleskill by a score of 63-59 on Saturday.

Keuka drops its third straight game and fall to 6-11 overall while the Fighting Tigers improve to 7-12 on the year.

Keuka managed to stay close with Cobleskill in the first half despite only netting six field goals to the Fighting Tigers 12.  The Storm hit 12-of-16 free throws in the half while Cobleskill attempted only two.  Cobleskill held a 3-point (27-24) halftime advantage.

The two teams traded baskets much of the second half and a 3-pointer by Alex Coleman (Elmira, N.Y./Southside) tied the game at 54 with just two minutes remaining.  Two straight buckets by Cobleskill’s Haneef Scott and then two straight missed 3-pointers by the Storm gave the game to the Fighting Tigers.

Keuka shot 42% (17-for-41) from the floor while Cobleskill went 25-for-59 (42%).  Keuka hit 13 more free throws (23-10) while trailing in rebounds by three (36-33).

Junior Diamond Booker (Bronx, N.Y./Fredrick Douglas Academy) led all scorers with 17 points while adding eight boards and three blocks.  He went 5-for-7 from the floor.  Rookie Teddy Tuggles (Rochester, N.Y./Gates Chili) added 12 points and six rebounds.

Coleman joined the pair in double digits with 11 points while freshman Ethan Kamholtz (Penn Yan, N.Y./Penn Yan) chipped in eight points off the bench.

Cobleskill was led by Damon Franklin who ended with 14 points and seven rebounds.  Scott added 12 points.

Keuka will next play Sunday, Feb. 7 at SUNYIT beginning at 3 pm.
