Women’s Hoops Drop Second Straight

The Keuka women’s basketball team lost for the second time in as many days as they fell on the road to the Wildcats of SUNYIT by a score of 63-52. The Storm slip to 11-7 overall while SUNYIT improves to 11-8.
Keuka netted five 3-pointers in the opening half as they built a one-point (31-30) halftime lead. The Storm shot just 25% in the second half, however, including 0-for-7 from behind the arc as they were outscored by 12 (33-21). For the game, Keuka shot 30% (19-for-63) while SUNYIT went 24-for-56 (43%). The Wildcats dominated the boards to a tune of 46-33 while the Storm did a much better job taking care of the ball with only 13 turnovers to SUNYIT’s 23.
Keuka had just two players in double figures with junior Heather Fish (Newfield, N.Y./Newfield) leading the way with 10 points and eight rebounds. Classmate Jessica Fink (New Oxford, PA/New Oxford) added 10 points and a team-high three assists.
Junior Nadia Madmoune (Rome, N.Y./Rome Free Academy) added nine points and seven rebounds while Brittany Schrock (Elmira Heights, N.Y./Thomas Edison) and Mariah Mouzon (Elmira Heights, N.Y./Elmira Free Academy) each tallied eight points a piece.
Tamara Williams led SUNYIT with 11 points and 17 rebounds while Lyndsey Brognano added a game-high 18 points.
Keuka will next play this Wednesday, Feb. 10 at home against Cazenovia College beginning at 6 pm.
