The Keuka women’s basketball team defeated the visiting Nittany Lions of Penn State-Abington by hitting 10 3-pointers en route to a 64-57 win on Saturday.

Keuka wins its second straight and improve to 13-7 overall while Abington falls to 4-17 on the year.

The Storm did the majority of its damage in the first half as they hit seven 3-pointers to build a 10-point halftime lead (37-27).  The Nittany Lions out-scored Keuka 30-27 in the second half but could never get close enough to tie the game or take the lead. 

For the game, both teams shot 37% from the floor while Keuka hit 10 3-pointers to Abington’s seven.  The Storm struggled from the free throw line going just 8-for-19 but had 44 rebounds and 16 assists to make up for its charity stripe woes.

Junior Brittany Schrock (Elmira Heights, N.Y./Thomas Edison) had her second straight game with at least five 3-pointers as she went for a game-high 20 points while adding six rebounds, and four assists.  Classmate Jessica Fink (New Oxford, PA/New Oxford) added 15 points while netting three 3-pointers. 

Junior Nadia Madmoune (Rome, N.Y./Rome Free Academy) chipped in with seven points and team-highs in assists (five) and rebounds (nine).  Rookie Mariah Mouzon (Elmira Heights, N.Y./Elmira Free Acad.) posted seven points and eight rebounds.

Abington was led by Samantha Frick’s 18 points while Kerri Gallagher added 17 points.

Keuka will next play host to Penn State-Berks, Sunday, Feb. 14 beginning at 1 pm.
