Despite playing without two of its starters, the Keuka men’s basketball team still put up a season-high 90 points in a 106-90 loss on the road to the Nittany Lions of Penn State-Harrisburg on Saturday.

The loss drops Keuka, who have now split its last four games, to 8-15 overall.  Penn State-Harrisburg improves to 15-9 on the year.

Despite putting up a solid 43 points in the opening half, Keuka could not stop the Nittany Lions from scoring as they netted 60 points while making 24 first-half field goals.  Keuka’s defense picked up a little in the second half as they held Harrisburg to just 11 field goals while out-scoring them 47-46.  But the damage was already done in the opening half. 

Harrisburg took advantage of Keuka’s 25 fouls as the Storm had three players foul out.  Harrisburg shot an unbelievable 44 free throws making 32 of them (73%).  Keuka did hit 12 3-pointers to just four for Harrisburg but the Nittany Lions grabbed 13 more rebounds (54-41).  The teams combined for 40 assists.

Rookie Ryan Klimek (Rochester, N.Y./Greece Arcadia) led the Storm with a career-high 20 points while making 5-of-11 3-point attempts.  Klimek added six rebounds.  Classmate Teddy Tuggles (Rochester, N.Y./Gates Chili) added 15 points and six assists.

Senior Alex Coleman (Elmira, N.Y./Southside) netted 18 points to go with his six rebounds while junior Diamond Booker (Bronx, N.Y./Fredrick Douglas Acad.) missed a double-double by one with rebound, scoring 13 points.  Freshman Ethan Kamholtz (Penn Yan, N.Y./Penn Yan) added nine points and seven rebounds off the bench while senior Rob Crowley (Attica, N.Y./Attica) hit three 3-pointers for nine points.  Junior Matt Thomason (Montour Falls, N.Y./Odessa-Montour) had six points, seven rebounds, three assists, and four steals.

Harrisburg had five players in double figures led by Steve Jones who had 27 points, 15 rebounds, nine steals, and seven assists, while going 12-for-17 from the free throw line.  Kenton Alston added 22 points and 10 rebounds.

Keuka will next wait and see where it is seeded in the NEAC Tournament to determine where and who they play.
