The No. 7 seeded Storm couldn’t pull off the upset of No. 2 seed Wells College as Keuka fell by 10 (77-67) in the North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) Tournament Quarterfinals at Penn State-Harrisburg on Friday.

Keuka ends its season with a 9-16 overall record while Wells improves to 20-6 overall and advances to face the Nittany Lions of Penn State-Harrisburg in the semifinals.

Keuka jumped out to an early 8-0 lead through the game’s first three and a half minutes and held a lead until just under eight minutes remaining when Wells hit a 3-pointer for its first lead of the game (26-23).  Keuka regained the lead (35-34) on Teddy Tuggles (Rochester, N.Y./Gates Chili) lay-up with 22 seconds remaining in the half.  Wells’ Greg Jones then hit a 3-pointer with eight seconds left to give the Express a two-point (37-35) halftime lead.

The Storm were never able to regain the lead in the second half, although they got within two (61-59) after a Calvin Logins (Newark, N.Y./Lyons) 3-pointer with 6:32 remaining in the game.  Wells would outscore Keuka 16-8 over the rest of the game to secure the win.

For the game, the Storm shot 41% (28-for-68) while hitting eight 3-pointers.  Wells posted a shooting percentage of 47 (28-for-60) while hitting nine long balls.  Keuka managed just 3-of-11 from the free throw line as Wells went 12-for-21.  The Express had a slight rebound advantage (42-39).

Logins pumped in his 11 double-double of the season with 17 points and 15 rebounds while going 8-for-19 from the floor.  Logins added three blocks and a pair of assists.  Senior Alex Coleman (Elmira, N.Y./Southside) led all Keuka scorers with 21 points while hitting three 3-pointers.

Tuggles added eight points and a game-high six assists while senior Rob Crowley (Attica, N.Y./Attica) chipped in with seven points off the bench.

Wells was led by Juan Paulino’s 16 points, 17 rebounds, and four blocks.  Jones added a game-high 22 points.
