The Keuka men’s lacrosse fell for the fourth time in as many games as they were defeated 14-6 at home by the Bears of SUNY Potsdam on Saturday.

The Storm slip to 1-4 on the year while Potsdam improves to 4-2 overall.

The Bears out-scored Keuka 4-1 in the first period and 4-2 in the second to hold an 8-3 lead at intermission.  Potsdam then scored four more in the third to Keuka’s two, before winning the fourth quarter 2-1. 

The Bears won 18-of-22 face-offs while out-shooting the Storm 31-22.  Potsdam also won the battle for ground balls (42-33).  Keuka went 1-for-11 in extra-man opportunities.

Keuka had six different players score its six goals while rookie Mike Crumlish (Rochester, N.Y./Hilton) had a goal and an assist.  Fellow freshmen Mark Butto (Rochester, N.Y./Schroeder), Anthony Jones (Syracuse, N.Y./Corcoran), and Chris Redington (Tully, N.Y./Tully) each had a goal.

Junior Stephen Ferguson (Syracuse, N.Y./Westhill) and sophomore Gino Marcello (Rochester, N.Y./Churchville-Chili) accounted for the Storm’s other two goals.  Juniors Jaime Conway (East Syracuse, N.Y./ESM) and David Miller (East Syracuse, N.Y./ESM) each passed off an assist.

Junior goalie Brett Leonard (Syracuse, N.Y./Westhill) had eight saves while allowing 12 goals in 45 minutes of action.  Junior Jon Curry (Hamburg, N.Y./Frontier) played the final 15 minutes while making three saves and allowing two scores.

Keuka will next play at SUNY Brockport this Wednesday, March 31 beginning at 4 pm.
