Senior Casey Dahlstrom won both of his matches.
The Keuka men’s tennis team began its 2010 season with a huge 5-4 North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) win over the visiting Nittany Lions of Penn State-Harrisburg on Saturday. Harrisburg slips to 3-5 overall.
The Storm won two of the three doubles matches and then split the six singles matches. In doubles, junior Patrick Barker (Horseheads, N.Y./Horseheads) and senior Casey Dahlstrom (Grand Island, N.Y./Grand Island) won the top flight by a score of 8-5 while newcomers Kyle Stephens (Odessa, N.Y./Odessa-Montour) and Kyle Rivera (Horseheads, N.Y./Horseheads) won the third flight by a score of 9-7. The Keuka women’s tennis team started its Spring season with a 6-3 home win over the Nittany Lions of Penn State-Harrisburg on Saturday.
The Storm improve to 1-2 overall and begin its North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) season with a win. Harrisburg slips to 3-7 overall and 0-1 in conference action.
The Storm began the match by winning two of the three doubles matches. Senior Jennifer Heinrich (Hilton, N.Y./Hilton) and rookie Brin Benjamin (Carlisle, Pa/Carlisle) won the second flight by a score of 8-5 while freshmen Kara Dewitt (Syracuse, N.Y./Bishop Grimes) and Sherry Dong (China) won the third flight, 8-2. Softball Out-Scores St. Elizabeth 37-2 in Sweep

Senior Jessica VanScoter batted 4-for-6 with four runs and four RBIs.
The Softball team continued to cruise through its North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) foe’s as they swept the Eagles of the College of St. Elizabeth in a double header on the road Saturday. Keuka won game one by a score of 16-2 and then no-hit the Eagles in game two, winning 21-0.
Keuka improves to 4-0 overall and 4-0 in conference play while St. Elizabeth slips to 0-14 overall and 0-2 in the NEAC.
Through four games, Keuka is out-scoring its opponents 66-10. The Storm ripped 33 hits while allowing just two. In game one, Keuka plated five runs in the first inning, one in the second, four in the third, and six in the fourth, while playing just five innings. Read more

Men’s Lax Drop Fourth Straight

Junior Jon Curry had three saves in the fourth period.
The Keuka men’s lacrosse fell for the fourth time in as many games as they were defeated 14-6 at home by the Bears of SUNY Potsdam on Saturday.
The Storm slip to 1-4 on the year while Potsdam improves to 4-2 overall.
The Bears out-scored Keuka 4-1 in the first period and 4-2 in the second to hold an 8-3 lead at intermission. Potsdam then scored four more in the third to Keuka’s two, before winning the fourth quarter 2-1.
The Bears won 18-of-22 face-offs while out-shooting the Storm 31-22. Potsdam also won the battle for ground balls (42-33). Keuka went 1-for-11 in extra-man opportunities. Read more

Women’s Lax Wins Big for First Win

Junior Brittany Murray had three goals, two assists, and seven ground balls.
The Keuka College women’s lacrosse began its defense of the North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) crown with a decisive 15-3 win over the Mavericks of Medaille College on the road Friday.
The Storm improve to 1-3 overall while Medaille slips to 0-4 on the year.
After Medaille kicked off the scoring, Keuka answered with four straight goals and scored six of the final seven goals of the half to hold a 6-2 lead at the break. The Storm took over in the second half, out-scoring the Mavericks 9-1.
For the game, Keuka out-shot Medaille 30-11 while picking up four more ground balls (33-29). Both teams went 2-for-4 in free position shots while Medaille won the battle for draw controls (11-9). Read more
