Men’s Lax Snap Losing Streak with 14-5 Win Over Wells

The Keuka men’s lacrosse team snapped its five-game losing streak with a 14-5 road win against the Express of Wells College on Saturday.
The Storm improve to 2-5 overall and 1-1 in North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) play while the Express fall to 1-7 overall and 1-1 in conference action.
Keuka out-scored Wells in all four periods (2-1, 4-2, 3-1, and 5-1) while out-shooting the Express 54-21. The Storm picked up 42 ground balls while Wells collected 37. The Express won the face-off battle (11-10) but the Storm’s defense crushed Wells on clear attempts as the Express successfully cleared the ball just 23 times in 39 attempts. The Storm went 24-for-25.
Leading the long list of scorers was freshman Chris Redington (Tully, N.Y./Tuly) who passed off seven assists while scoring a goal. Playing in his first game of the season, junior Stephen Major (Elbridge, N.Y./Jordan Elbridge) tallied two goals and an assist. Fellow rookie Mike Crumlish (Rochester, N.Y./Hilton) added a goal and an assist.
Juniors David Miller (East Syracuse, N.Y./ESM) and Peter Hart (Webster, N.Y./Thomas) each scored two goals a piece, as did freshman Anthony Jones (Syracuse, N.Y./Corcoran). Two of Keuka’s goalies, Brett Leonard (Syracuse, N.Y./Westhill) and Ethan Kamholtz (Penn Yan, N.Y./Penn Yan), each scored there first career goals. Junior Jaime Conway (East Syracuse, N.Y./ESM) and sophomore Mason Brown (Dundee, N.Y./Dundee) each netted a goal.
Leonard picked up the win in goal while stopping four shots in 15 minutes of action. Junior Jon Curry (Hamburg, N.Y./Frontier) had five saves while allowing just two goals in the second half. Wells’ goalie Kyle Brimm had 20 saves while allowing 14 goals.
Keuka will next play at St. John Fisher College this Tuesday, April 6 beginning at 4 pm.
