Junior Class Leads Women’s Lax to Big Win

Led by 13 goals from its junior class, the Keuka women’s lacrosse team defeated the Eagles of the College of St. Elizabeth by a score of 23-3 on the road Saturday.
The Storm improve to 4-4 overall and remain perfect in the North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) at 4-0. St. Elizabeth slips to 0-10 overall and 0-6 in the NEAC.
The Storm dominated the Eagles in every category while outscoring them 12-3 in the first half and 11-0 in the second half. Keuka out-shot St. Elizabeth 40-6 while winning 20 of the 26 draw controls.
Junior Jennifer Bush (Endwell, N.Y./Maine-Endwell) led the offense scoring four goals while dishing out two assists. Classmate Brandy Shafer (Rochester, N.Y./Eastridge) also had four goals and two assists.
Senior Trista Partridge (Bath, N.Y./Haverling) had three goals and two assists while picking up a team-high five ground balls. Rookie Sam Layton (Painted Post, N.Y./Corning West) tallied three goals while junior Courtney Potochniak (Endicott, N.Y./Maine-Endwell) scored twice while dishing out one helper. Junior Laura Dougherty (Geneva, N.Y./Geneva) had two scores while classmate Brittany Murray (Heuvelton, N.Y./Heuvelton) chipped in with a goal and an assist.
Rookie goalie Molly Hogan (Horseheads, N.Y./Horseheads) stopped two shots in goal while picking up the win.
Keuka will next play at Penn State-Abington, Sunday, April 11 beginning at noon.
