Led by junior scoring machine, Brandy Shafer (Rochester, N.Y./Eastridge), the Keuka’s women’s lacrosse team thumped the Nittany Lions of Penn State-Abington on the road Sunday by a score of 17-3.

Keuka improves to 5-4 overall and remains perfect in the North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) at 5-0.  Abington drops to 3-5 overall and 2-3 in the conference.

Keuka scored the game’s first five goals and cruised to a 10-1 halftime lead.  The Storm then out-scored the Nittany Lions 7-2 in the second half.  For the game, Keuka had 36 shots while holding Abington to just nine.  The Storm won the draw control (13-9) and the ground ball (46-33) battle.

Shafer registered seven of the Storm’s 17 goals given her 44 on the season (55 points).  Shafer also had a game-high nine draw controls.  Junior Courtney Potochniak (Endicott, N.Y./Maine-Endwell) added two goals and three assists while classmate Brittany Murray (Heuvelton, N.Y./Heuvelton) had three goals.

Senior Trista Partridge (Bath, N.Y./Haverling) had two goals and two assists while juniors Jennifer Bush (Endwell, N.Y./Maine-Endwell) and Laura Dougherty (Geneva, N.Y./Geneva) each had a goal and three assists.

Freshman Molly Hogan (Horseheads, N.Y./Horseheads) had four saves while allowing just three goals.  Abington’s goalie had eight saves.

Keuka will next play host to Wells College this Wednesday, April 14 beginning at 7 pm.
