Baseball Plates 10 Against No. 25 Rochester in Loss

The Keuka baseball team plated 10 runs in a 19-10 loss to the No. 25 nationally ranked Yellowjackets of the University of Rochester on Wednesday.

Keuka falls to 2-12 on the season while Rochester improves to 20-4.

After falling behind 3-0, Keuka plated four runs in the third inning on two 2-run home runs by freshman Keith Prestano (Astoria, N.Y./Xaverian) and sophomore Pete Venuti (Syracuse, N.Y./Solvay).  Rochester took the lead back with five runs in the bottom of the third and added six runs in the fifth.  Keuka plated three runs in both the sixth and seventh innings.  Rochester finished with 21 hits while the Storm had seven.

Prestano led Keuka while going 2-for-4 with two RBIs, two walks, and three runs scored.  Senior Neil Halverson (Walworth, N.Y./Gananda) drove in three runs while going 1-for-2 with three walks.  Venuti finished 1-for-3 with two RBIs, two runs scored, and two walks while junior Jason Kirkum (Bason, N.Y./Oakfield-Alabama) finished 2-for-6 with an RBI.

Keuka will next play at SUNYIT this Saturday, April 17 beginning at 5 pm.
