In a rematch of last year’s North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) championship game, that Keuka won 17-4, it was Medaille who came out on top on Wednesday.  The Mavericks defeated the Storm 18-15.

Keuka falls to 3-7 overall and 2-2 in the conference while Medaille improves to 5-5 overall and 3-1 in the NEAC.

The Storm out-scored Medaille 9-7 in the second half but were down 11-6 at the half.  The Mavericks out-shot Keuka 49-36 while winning 23-of-35 face-offs.  Medaille also picked up nine more ground balls (39-30).  Keuka’s defense caused Medaille to only successfully clear the ball 18 times out of 26 chances while going 30-for-32 themselves.

Junior goalie Brett Leonard (Syracuse, N.Y./Westhill) led the Storm with 18 saves in goal while letting in 18 goals.  Medaille finished with 11 saves.

Junior Stephen Ferguson (Syracuse, N.Y./Westhill) led the offense with four goals while freshman Mark Butto (Rochester, N.Y./Schroeder) added three goals and two assists.  Fellow rookie Chris Redington (Tully, N.Y./Tully) added three goals while junior David Miller (East Syracuse, N.Y./ESM) had two goals and an assist.  Freshman Ethan Kamholtz (Penn Yan, N.Y./Penn Yan) had two goals and a team-high seven ground balls.

The Storm will next take on Cazenovia College this Saturday, April 17 at home beginning at 2 pm.
