The Keuka College women’s lacrosse team ended its 2010 regular season by thrashing the visiting Privateers of SUNY Maritime by a score of 16-3 on Sunday.

Keuka now stands at 7-5 while Maritime falls to 1-10.

Keuka was balanced in its scoring, netting eight goals in each half.  The Storm’s defense limited the Privateers to just two goals in the first half and only one in the second half.  Keuka out-shot Maritime 40-15 while picking up 32 ground balls to the Privateers 14.  Keuka doubled them up in draw controls (14-7).

The school’s new all-time leader in goals, junior Brandy Shafer (Rochester, N.Y./Eastrdige), showed why by tallying six goals and handing out one assist.  She now has 110 goals on her career.

Classmate Brittany Murray (Heuvelton, N.Y./Heuvelton) added four goals, five ground balls, and five draw controls.  Junior Courtney Potochniak (Endicott, N.Y./Maine-Endwell) had a goal and six assists.  Junior Jennifer Bush (Endwell, N.Y./Maine-Endwell) added two goals and eight ground balls. 

Rookie goalie Molly Hogan (Horseheads, N.Y./Horseheads) had seven saves while allowing just three goals.  Maritime collected 12 saves.

Keuka will next play in the NEAC Tournament this weekend, April 23-25.
