Talcott’s Gem Not Enough in Loss to Fisher

Junior John Talcott (Binghamton, N.Y./Union-Endicott) took a no-hitter into the fifth inning against the Cardinals of St. John Fisher College before the Storm lost 9-1 at home on Tuesday.  Keuka slips to 3-14 overall while Fisher improves to 19-9.

The Storm took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the sixth inning after senior Ted Black (Turin, N.Y./South Lewis) drove home sophomore Nick Ventura (Auburn, N.Y./Auburn) with an RBI single.  Talcott held the Cardinals scoreless for the first six innings before Fisher tallied two runs in the seventh.  Fisher added a run in the eighth and six more in the ninth.

Talcott allowed just three hits in 6.1 innings while striking out three and not allowing an earned run.  The Cardinals finished with 10 hits to the Storm’s seven.  Black and Ventura each went 2-for-4.

Keuka will next play at SUNYIT this Thursday, April 22 beginning at 5 pm.
