Crowley’s Walk-off Homer Secures Split with Berks

Sophomore Nick Ventura batted 4-for-9 with four RBIs.
The Keuka baseball enjoyed some late game heroics as they split with the North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) regular season champions, Penn State-Berks. The Storm lost game one 10-3 before taking the second game 12-9 in extra innings.
Keuka is now 6-17 overall and 4-8 in the conference while Berks is 22-16 overall and 10-2 in the NEAC.
In game one, Keuka allowed all 10 berks runs in the first three innings. Junior John Talcott (Binghamton, N.Y./Union-Endicott) then came in in relief and pitched four shutout innings while allowing just one hit. Sophomore Nick Ventura (Auburn, N.Y./Auburn) and senior Ted Black (Turin, N.Y./South Lewis) each went 1-for-4 with an RBI.
In the second game, Berks went up 5-3 after two innings of play. Keuka tied it with a run in the fourth and another in the sixth. Berks then scored a run in the seventh but the Storm answered with one of its own to force extra innings. The Nittany Lions plated three runs in the top of the eighth but Keuka answered with six, highlighted by a 3-run walk-off home run by senior Rob Crowley (Attica, N.Y./Attica).
Crowley also picked up the win on the mound pitching one inning. Sophomore John Sculli (Canandaigua, N.Y./Canandaigua) pitched the first seven innings while striking out five.
Ventura went 3-for-5 with three RBIs and two runs scored as senior Simon Mills (Boonville, N.Y./Adirondack) and sophomore Mike Hutchings (Auburn, N.Y./Auburn) each went 2-for-4 with two runs scored. Freshman Keith Prestano (Astoria, N.Y./Xaverian) scored three runs.
