Softball Improves to 18-0 in NEACs with Pair of Wins

The Keuka softball team inched that much closer to a perfect North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) regular season by sweeping the Nittany Lions of Penn State-Berks on Saturday.  The Storm won game one 5-1 and took the second game 8-3.

Keuka now sits at 18-6 overall and 18-0 in the conference while the Nittany Lions fall to 12-19 overall and 11-7 in the conference.

In game one, Berks held a 1-0 lead after three innings of play but the Storm plated five in the fourth to secure the victory.  Freshman Allison Richter (Hume, N.Y./Fillmore) pitched a complete game while allowing just one unearned run. 

Freshmen Terin Brown (Wayland, N.Y./Wayland-Cohocton) and Montana McDonald (Romulus, N.Y./Romulus) each batted 2-for-3 with an RBI while sophomore Sara James (Wayland, N.Y./Wayland-Cohocton) drove in two runs.

In game two, the Storm scored six runs in the first three innings and added two more in the sixth.  the Storm ripped 12 hits to just three for Berks.  Junior Cherie Smith (Canastota, N.Y./Mohawk Valley CC) pitched five innings while striking out seven to pick up the win.

Senior Domino Usiak (Painted Post, N.Y./Corning West) batted 3-for-4 with two RBIs and two runs scored as junior Morgan Engelbert (Elmira Heights, N.Y./Thomas Edison) was 2-for-4 with a pair of RBIs.  McDonald drove in two more runs.

Keuka will next play at SUNYIT this Sunday, April 25 beginning at 1 pm.
