Women’s Lax Wins Semifinal Game; To Play Wells for NEAC Title

The No. 2 seeded Storm took down the No. 3 seeded Mustangs of SUNY Morrisville by a score of 16-9 in a semifinal match-up at Wells College on Saturday.  The Storm will try and defend its NEAC title by facing the top seeded Express of Wells College on Sunday, April 25 beginning at 1 pm.

Keuka improved to 8-5 on the season while Morrisville ends its season at 5-9.

The Storm used a huge first half to put the game out of reach from the Mustangs.  Keuka tallied 11 first-half goals while holding Morrisville to just five.  The Storm outscored Morrisville 5-4 in the second half.  Keuka took 40 shots while allowing just 21.  The Storm had eight more ground balls (19-11).

Junior Brandy Shafer (Rochester, N.Y./Eastridge) led Keuka with six goals while classmate Courtney Potochniak (Endicott, N.Y./Maine-Endwell) added three goals and two assists.  Junior Laura Dougherty (Geneva, N.Y./Geneva) had three scores and an assist while senior Trista Partridge (Bath, N.Y./Haverling) also scored three goals.  Junior Jennifer Bush (Endwell, N.Y./Maine-Endwell) chipped in with a goal and two assists.

Rookie goalie Molly Hogan (Horseheads, N.Y./Horseheads) collected seven saves while Morrisville had 12 saves.
