Women’s Tennis Lose by One in NEAC Championship

Junior Megan McGowan won both of her singles and both of her doubles matches.
The Keuka women’s tennis team won its first match in the North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) Championships but fell by one in the title match.
The No. 2 Storm defeated No. 3 Wells College by a score of 5-2 before falling to top-seed Penn State-Berks by a score of 5-4. Keuka now stands at 6-6 overall.
Against Wells, Keuka won two of the three doubles matches with junior Megan McGowan (Batavia, N.Y./Batavia) and senior Alison Liberty (South Berwick, ME/Marshwood) winning the top flight 8-3. Rookies Brin Benjamin (Carlisle, Pa/Carlisle) and Kara Dewitt (Syracuse, N.Y./Bishop Grimes) won the third flight 8-5.
In singles, McGowan took flight No. 1 (6-0, 6-4) and Liberty won flight No. 2 (6-0, 6-0). Benjamin won the fifth flight (7-6, 6-4).
In the championship match, Keuka had a good start by winning two of the three doubles. McGowan and Liberty won the top flight (8-5) while Benjamin and Dewitt won the third flight (9-7).
Keuka won only two of the six singles matches with McGowan winning the top flight (6-3, 6-3) and Dewitt winning the sixth flight (6-1, 6-4).
