Junior Casey Dahlstrom won his doubles match against Abington.
The Keuka College men’s tennis team lost both of its matches at the North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) Championships over the weekend. The No. 4 Storm fell to top seeded SUNY Oneonta by a score of 6-0 and then fell to No. 3 Penn State-Abington by a score of 5-1. Keuka now stands at 1-8 on the season.
Against SUNY Oneonta, who went on to win the NEAC Championship for the second straight year, the Storm were swept in all three doubles matches and the top three flights of singles.
Against Abington, Keuka dropped two of the three doubles matches with junior Casey Dahlstrom (Grand Island, N.Y./Grand Island) and sophomore Kyle Stephens (Odessa, N.Y./Odessa-Montour) winning the third flight by a score of 9-8. The Storm then dropped the first three flights of singles.
In the individual part of the NEAC Championships, sophomore Brian Oberg (Lino Lakes, MN/Centennial) was the #3 seed and after dropping the first match to his #2 seeded SUNY Cobleskill opponent (1-6, 4-6), he defeated the #4 seed from Penn State-Abington (8-5). The win earned Oberg a spot on the All-NEAC third team in flight No. 2 of singles.
Dahlstrom and Stephens then teamed up as the #4 seed in doubles and fell 8-0 to the top seed from SUNY Oneonta and 8-0 to the #2 seed from Penn State-Berks.
