The Keuka College women’s lacrosse team knocked off the top-seeded Express of Wells College by a score of 15-14 to repeat as North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) Tournament champions.

Keuka improves to 9-5 overall with the win and will now square off against North Atlantic Conference (NAC) Tournament winner, Husson University at Green Mountain College this Saturday.

Keuka held a one-goal advantage at the break (6-5) but the Express would score six of the first seven goals in the second half.  Keuka answered with six straight goals to take the lead back.  The two teams would each score nine goals in the second half as the Storm held on for the win.  Keuka ripped 42 shots to just 25 for Wells.  The Storm dominated every other offensive categories including ground balls (30-17) and draw controls (20-7).

The Express were able to stay close to Keuka thanks to 17 saves from its goalie.  Rookie Molly Hogan (Horseheads, N.Y./Horseheads) had eight saves for the Storm.

Junior Brandy Shafer (Rochester, N.Y./Eastridge) led Keuka with seven goals as she was named the Tournament MVP for the second consecutive season.  She had 13 goals in the two tournament games.

Junior Laura Dougherty (Geneva, N.Y./Geneva) added a goal and four assists while classmate Jennifer Bush (Endwell, N.Y./Maine-Endwell) had two goals.  Junior Courtney Potochniak (Endicott, N.Y./Maine-Endwell) had a goal and an assist.
