Baseball Splits with Oswego in Season Finale

Sophomore Ben Przepiora batted 3-for-4 with three RBIs.
The Keuka College baseball team split with the visiting Lakers of SUNY Oswego in its last two games of the 2010 season on Thursday. The Storm won game one 8-6 and lost the second game 14-7. Keuka finishes with a 7-18 overall record while Oswego improves to 17-13.
In the first game, Keuka scored seven runs, all with two outs. Up 7-4 entering the bottom of the sixth, senior Ted Black (Turin, N.Y./South Lewis) belted a solo home run to make it 8-4. The Lakers scored two in the top of the seventh but the damage was done.
Junior Jason Kirkum (Bason, N.Y./Oakfield-Alabama) tossed his fifth complete game while picking up his second win of the season. He allowed just four earned and struck out seven.
Sophomore Mike Hutchings (Auburn, N.Y./Auburn) batted 2-for-4 while junior Matt Dunn (Walden, N.Y./Chapel Field) was 1-for-2 with two RBIs. Black was 1-for-2 with a pair of walks and two runs scored.
In the second game, Keuka was done in by poor defense as they committed six errors while letting eight unearned runs score. Senior Kyle Sherin (Walworth, N.Y./Gananda) was the tough luck loser as he didn’t allow a single earned run to score. Sophomore Ben Przepiora (Syracuse, N.Y./Solvay) batted 2-for-3 with three RBIs and two runs scored while Black was 2-for-4 with two RBIs. Dunn stayed hot at the plate with two more hits as rookie Keith Prestano (Astoria, N.Y./Xaverian) was 2-for-3 with two runs scored.
