May 1, 2010

Freshman Allison Richter was named the Tournament MVP.
The Keuka softball team continued to roll against its North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) foes as they crushed the #2 Wildcats of SUNYIT by a score of 8-1 in the NEAC Tournament championship on Saturday. The win makes it four straight years the Storm have won the championship. Keuka will also play in its fourth straight NCAA Tournament.
The Storm improve to 23-6 overall and went 23-0 against conference teams this season. SUNYIT defeated #4 Wilson College by a score of 5-4 to make it to the championship game. The Wildcats finish its season with a 29-9 overall record, with four of its losses coming against the Storm.
Keuka plated runs in both the first and second innings before scoring five in the third inning. SUNYIT scored its lone run of the game in the fourth inning but the Storm quickly answered with another run in the bottom half of the inning. That would be all the Storm would need for the 8-1 win.
Keuka out-hit SUNYIT 11-7 while playing flawless defense.
Freshman pitcher Allison Richter (Hume, N.Y./Fillmore), the NEAC pitcher of the Year, was named the NEAC Tournament MVP after going 3-0 with two complete games and a shutout. Richter struck out 12 batters in 18.1 innings while allowing just one earned run for a 0.38 ERA.
In the championship game, Richter went all seven innings while allowing her only run of the Tournament.
