2010 Women’s Soccer Season Preview

After outscoring its opponents 55-22 a season ago and scoring nearly three goals a game (2.83), the Keuka College women’s soccer returns almost all of its offensive firepower this season.
Head coach Jamie Burke led the Storm to a 10-9 overall record and an 8-2 conference mark while returning the program to the NCAA Tournament for the third time. Burke will rely on her big three scoring threats in seniors Alyssa Hermenet (Williamson, N.Y./Williamson) and Courtney McLaughlin (Warsaw, N.Y./Letchworth), and sophomore Nicole Sharick (Corfu, N.Y./Pembroke).
Hermenet is a three-time All-NEAC selection, including a first team pick last year while finishing with eight goals and an assist for 17 points. Four of her eight goals were game-winners. The forward/midfielder is currently tied for ninth all-time at Keuka in goals with 26 and is tenth all-time in points with 64. Read more
2010 Volleyball Season Preview

Sophomore Brittany Smyder will help the Storm in the middle in 2010.
The Keuka College volleyball team will rely on the return of five of its top six attackers as they try and improve on its 14-19 record and fifth place showing in the North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) a season ago.
Head coach Dave sweet takes the team over again after coaching the Storm from 2000-05. He will guide a squad of nine returners and seven newcomers that is led by senior outside hitter Raelle Naegely (Colorado Springs, CO/Pine Creek).
Naegely was second on the team last year with 237 kills and 228 digs. She also added 22 serving aces and 43 blocks and was named to the All-NEAC second team. The three-time All-Conference selection is eighth all-time at Keuka in kills with 638. Read more
2010 Men’s Soccer Season Preview

Sophomore Reis Cunningham will help keep opponents offenses at bay.
One thing the Keuka College men’s soccer team won’t be lacking in 2010 is experience.
Coach Matt Tantalo will have the services of 15 returning players as the Storm look to improve on last season’s 8-7-1 record and return to a position of prominence in the North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC).
Prior to last season, Keuka had gone 41-11-2 against conference opponents with two championships and two second place finishes in the previous five years.
Leading the way for the Storm will be senior forward Jack Reece (Rochester, N.Y./Churchville-Chili), who led the team in scoring last year with five goals and three assists (13 points) while being selected to the All-NEAC second team. Reece is a three-time all-conference selection and has already placed his name all over the Keuka record books. He is currently ninth all-time in goals (22), sixth all-time in assists (16), and eighth all-time in points (60). Read more
Keuka Leads NEAC with 45 Scholar Athletes

The North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) announced the scholar-athletes for the 2009-2010 year. A student-athlete must achieve a GPA of 3.4 or higher for the fall and spring semesters combined and must be in good standing on his or her team. This year, the conference honored 276 scholar-athletes, from 14 colleges, hailing from 13 states and seven countries.
Keuka had the most scholar-athletes of any NEAC school with 45. They are listed below: Read more
Barry to Direct Keuka Baseball Program

Michael Barry
Keuka College has selected Michael Barry to be its new baseball coach.
Barry comes to Keuka from Haverford (Pa.) College, where he served as assistant baseball coach since 2007.
“We are excited about having Mike as our new full-time baseball coach,” said Athletic Director David Sweet. “He brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to this position and we expect to see our program grow under his guidance.”
Barry served as pitching instructor at Haverford under Head Coach Dave Beccaria. The Fords posted a 24-16 record in 2010—the third most wins in school history—and finished second to Division III power Johns Hopkins in the Centennial Conference. Read more
