2010 Women’s Soccer Season Preview
August 31, 2010

Junior Deanna Nortier returns to the Storm's midfield.
After outscoring its opponents 55-22 a season ago and scoring nearly three goals a game (2.83), the Keuka College women’s soccer returns almost all of its offensive firepower this season.
Head coach Jamie Burke led the Storm to a 10-9 overall record and an 8-2 conference mark while returning the program to the NCAA Tournament for the third time. Burke will rely on her big three scoring threats in seniors Alyssa Hermenet (Williamson, N.Y./Williamson) and Courtney McLaughlin (Warsaw, N.Y./Letchworth), and sophomore Nicole Sharick (Corfu, N.Y./Pembroke).
Hermenet is a three-time All-NEAC selection, including a first team pick last year while finishing with eight goals and an assist for 17 points. Four of her eight goals were game-winners. The forward/midfielder is currently tied for ninth all-time at Keuka in goals with 26 and is tenth all-time in points with 64.
McLaughlin finished second on the team in scoring with a team-high 14 goals, one assist, and 29 points. The forward was selected to the All-NEAC second team and is tied with Hermenet for ninth all-time at Keuka in goals (26).
Sharick, a forward and midfielder, enjoyed a sensational rookie season while leading the team in scoring and being selected to the All-NEAC third team. She finished the season with 11 goals, nine assists, and 31 points, including four game-winning goals.
Senior Molly McGuigan (Conklin, N.Y./Susquehanna Valley), a third team All-NEAC pick on defense last season, makes the transition back to midfield where she played as a freshman. McGuigan had a goal and two points last season. Also back at midfield is junior Deanna Nortier (Marion, N.Y./Marion), who ended with three goals and five assists for 11 points; junior Sara James (Wayland, N.Y./Wayland-Cohocton); and sophomore Sarah Capek (Elmira, N.Y./Horseheads).
Leading the Storm’s defense, which allowed just over a goal a game (1.13) last year, is senior goalie Ashley Vail (Rochester, N.Y./Churchville-Chili). Vail finished with 87 saves and an .829 save percentage while collecting six shutouts. She was selected to the All-NEAC third team.
Also back in the Storm’s backfield will be sophomores Sarah Hillman (Elmira, N.Y./EFA), Shelby Seeley (Livonia, N.Y./Livonia), and Stephanie Strassner (Rochester, N.Y./Bishop Kearney).
Keuka welcomes nine newcomers in forwards Stephanie Havens (Unadilla, N.Y./Unatego) and Nicole Miller (Newmarket, NH/Newmarket), midfielders Britni Burch (Hornell, N.Y./Arkport) and Jessica Lorence (S. New Berlin, N.Y./Unadilla Valley), defenders Annie Mullen (Hoosick Falls, N.Y./Hoosick Falls), Elly Disbrow (Branchport, N.Y./Penn Yan), Brooke Lovell (Arkport, N.Y./Arkport), and Christine Dedes (Shortsville, N.Y./Red Jacket), as well as goalie Keri Kephart (Rochester, N.Y./Greece-Athena).
The Storm will open its season with a home game against SUNY Brockport Sept. 8 while playing nine home contests and seven away. The NEAC Tournament will be held Nov 6-7.
