2010-11 Women’s Tennis Season Preview
September 9, 2010

Sophomore Brin Benjamin was a third team All-NEAC pick as a rookie.
The 2009-10 women’s tennis team finished one point away from returning to the NCAA Tournament as it fell 5-4 in the NEAC finals.
This year’s squad will look to avenge that loss and improve on its 6-6 overall record a season ago. Head coach Matt Tantalo will rely heavily on senior Megan McGowan (Batavia, N.Y./Batavia), who has established herself as one of the top players around through her first three seasons.
McGowan went 10-2 overall in the top flight of singles and was a second team All-NEAC pick. In doubles, she was a first team All-NEAC performer while going 7-5 on the season. For her career, McGowan has posted a 25-13 record in singles and a 24-14 mark in doubles. She was the 2008-09 NEAC Player of the Year.
Back alongside McGowan will be sophomores Brin Benjamin (Carlisle, Pa/Carlisle) and Kara Dewitt (Syracuse, N.Y./Bishop Grimes). Benjamin went 7-5 in singles and 6-5 in doubles play while being selected to the All-NEAC third team in the fifth flight of singles. Dewitt went 4-6 in singles and 4-7 in doubles action.
Sophomores Marysa Cooper (Victor, N.Y./Victor) and Sherry Dong (Kunming, China) also return after seeing sporadic playing time as rookies. Cooper went 0-2 in singles and 0-1 in doubles play while Dong went 1-2 in singles and 1-3 in doubles action.
New to the squad this year will be Emily Knapsack (Montgomery, Pa/Montgomery), Sarah Schneider (Rushville, N.Y./Marcus Whitman), and Meghan Storie (Liverpool, N.Y./C-N-S).
The Storm will begin its season with an away match at SUNY Brockport Sept. 14. Keuka will play its first home match Sept. 21 against Roberts Wesleyan College. The Storm will play six matches in the fall and seven more in the spring before competing in the NEAC Tournament In April.
