Men’s Tennis Drops Final Match of Season to Oswego

Freshman Andrew Pirozzi ended his rookie year 1-8 in singles play.
The Keuka College men’s tennis team finished its season with an 8-1 loss at SUNY Oswego on Monday. Keuka ends the year with a 1-9 overall record.
The Storm won one of the three doubles matches before being swept in all six of the singles matches.
Brothers Kyle and Dan Stephens (Odessa, N.Y./Odessa-Montour) took the second flight of doubles by a score of 8-4.

Softball to Play NCAA’s at Ithaca; Against Middlebury

Keuka College will be making its fifth straight NCAA Tournament appearance.
The Keuka College softball team will be traveling to Ithaca College for the NCAA Regional Tournament that begins this Thursday, May 12.
The Storm (20-3-1) received the No. 6 seed in the eight-team regional and will square off against No. 3 Middlebury College (29-6) in the 2:30 pm game.

Shafer, Six Others Named to All-NEAC Teams

Senior Brandy Shafer was selected as the NEAC Player of the Year.
The Keuka College women’s lacrosse team swept the North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) regular season and tournament titles as well as the North Atlantic Conference (NAC) tournament title for the second year in a row.
In doing so, the Storm players and its coach were well represented on the All-NEAC teams.
Head coach Kelly Lickert was an easy choice for NEAC Coach of the Year after leading her team to a perfect 7-0 regular season and a 12-1 overall record.
Senior sensation Brandy Shafer (Rochester, N.Y./Eastridge) was selected as the NEAC Player of the Year as well as earning a spot on the All-NEAC first team. Shafer led Keuka with 50 goals and 65 points while finishing third on the team with 15 assists. The midfielder, who was selected as the NEAC Tournament MVP, also led the Storm with 26 caused turnovers and 35 draw controls while adding 38 ground balls. Read more
Leonard Leads Six Men’s Lax Players on All-NEAC Teams

Freshman Scott Miller was selected to the All-NEAC first team.
Senior goalie Brett Leonard (Syracuse, N.Y./Westhill) led a list of six Keuka College men’s lacrosse players on the All-North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) teams for the 2011 season.
Leonard, who helped guide the Storm to a NEAC Tournament championship while being selected as the tournament MVP, was picked as the NEAC Goalie of the Year as well as earning a spot on the first team. Leonard finished the season with a 127 saves, a 7.32 goals against average, and a .564 save percentage while going 8-5 in goal.
Joining Leonard on the All-NEAC first team were junior Gino Marcello (Rochester, N.Y./Churchville-Chili), sophomore Mike Crumlish (Rochester, N.Y./Hilton), and freshman Scott Miller (Penn Yan, N.Y./Penn Yan). Read more
Golf Wins SUNY ESF Invite to End Season

Junior Curtis Evanicki was the medalist with a 76.
The Keuka College golf team ended its 2010-11 season by winning the SUNY ESF Spring Invitational on Saturday. Played at the Links at Erie Village in Syracuse, the Storm finished with a team score of 337.
Syracuse University’s club team took second place with a team score of 346 while SUNY ESF team one shot a 350 and SUNY ESF team two shot a 377.
Junior Curtis Evanicki (Honeoye, N.Y./Honeoye) was the medalist with final score of 76. He beat the second place finishers by seven strokes. Sophomore Tyler Hoosier (Saratoga Springs, N.Y./Saratoga Springs) tied for second place with an 83.
Freshman Justin Evanicki (Honeoye, N.Y./Honeoye) placed third for Keuka with a 88 as junior Brian Oberg (Lino Lakes, MN/Centennial) shot a 90. Senior Jack Reece (Rochester, N.Y./Churchville-Chili) finished off Keuka’s scorers with a 97.

Men’s Lax Defeats Morrisville 8-7 for NEAC Title

Senior Brett Leonard stopped 23 shots to earn MVP honors.
The Keuka College men’s lacrosse team defeated the top seeded Mustangs of SUNY Morrisville by a score of 8-7 on the road Saturday to win the North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) Tournament championship. The Storm have now won two of the three titles since the conference started sponsoring varsity lacrosse.
Keuka ends its season with a 10-5 overall record while Morrisville finishes at 12-4 on the year.
The Storm fell behind 3-1 after the first period but responded with a huge 5-1 second period to take a 6-4 lead into halftime. The Mustangs netted the third periods only two goals to tie it up at six entering the final period. Keuka was able to score the first two goals and hold the Mustangs to just one fourth period goal. Softball Sweeps Wilson to Win Overall NEAC Championship

The Keuka Storm will represent the NEAC Conference in the NCAA Tournament.
Having already won the the North Division North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) regular season and tournament championships, the only thing left for the Storm before yet another trip to the NCAA Tournament was the overall conference championship. Standing in Keuka’s way was a best of three game series against the South Division winner, the Phoenix of Wilson College.
Keuka didn’t need three games as they disposed of Wilson in the first two games. Winning game one 4-2 and taking the second game 5-3. Keuka, who improves to 20-3-1 overall, will now wait to see where it gets placed for the NCAA Tournament. Wilson ends its season with a 22-12 overall record. Read more

For the second straight year the Keuka College women’s lacrosse team swept the conference tournament championships after they defeated Husson University by a score of 15-8 at SUNY Morrisville on Saturday.
Keuka, who ends its season with a 12-1 overall record, had already defeated SUNY Morrisville to win the North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) tournament championship. With the seven-goal win over Husson, Keuka defends its North Atlantic Conference (NAC) tournament championship.
Keuka scored the games first three goals before Husson scored three of the next four goals to get within one. That would be as close as they would get as Keuka netted the next four goals to go up 8-3 and eventually held a 9-5 advantage at the half. Read more
