Gravel, Bandrowski Named All-NEAC
February 21, 2012

Sophomores Jessica Bandrowski (left) and Danielle Gravel (right) were named to the 2011-12 All-NEAC team for women's basketball.
For the eighth time in nine seasons, a member of the Keuka College women’s basketball team garnered first-team All-North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) following a strong regular season.
Sophomore guard Danielle Gravel (Sidney, NY/Sidney), the Storm’s leading scorer at 13.8 points per game, was named to the first-team All-NEAC while backcourt mate Jessica Bandrowski (Center Moriches, NY/Center Moriches) earned second-team All-NEAC honors, the conference announced Tuesday.
Gravel was joined on the first-team by Player of the Year Lyndsey Brognano (SUNYIT), Sabrina Jarmolinski (College of St. Elizabeth), Ashley Roser (Wells College) and Lauren Heliger (Lancaster Bible College).
Gravel reached double-figures in 14 of 19 games, including 11 times with 15-plus points. Gravel was also Keuka’s leading three-point threat, converting on 44 of 129 attempts (34.1 percent) as the Storm went 16-5 overall and 14-3 in the NEAC to earn the North Division’s No. 2 seed.
Since the 2003-04 season, five members of the Storm have earned first-team All-NEAC honors for women’s basketball: Gravel, Brittany Schrock (2009-10), Courtney Lincoln (2008-09), Pam Gardner (2006-07 and 2007-08) and Lindsay Baker (2003-04, 2004-05 and 2005-06),
Gravel started the year with two 20-point games in Keuka’s first three contests, and scored a career-best 29 points on 10 of 14 shooting (71.4), including 6 of 8 on ‘3s’, during a win over Cazenovia College on Jan. 25. She is second on the Storm with 50 steals, and had 11 games with 3-plus steals, including six thefts during a season-opening 79-39 win over SUNY Canton on Nov. 15.
Gravel, Keuka’s most accurate free-throw shooter (38 of 48, 79.8 percent), finished 10th in the NEAC in scoring average as Keuka closed out the year winners of eight of its last nine conference games.
Bandrowski finished second on the Storm in scoring average (11.5 ppg.) and was 17th overall in the NEAC. Bandrowski started the year strong, scoring in double-figures in seven of Keuka’s first eight games, and 12 of 19 games overall.
The two-time All-NEAC selection opened with 23 points on 9 of 11 shooting vs. SUNY Canton and added 20 points on 8 of 18 shooting vs. William Smith.
Bandrowski, who was named third-team All-NEAC as a freshman, led the Storm with 59 steals (2.8 steals per game) and 68 assists (3.2 apg.).
As Keuka’s top defender, Bandrowski often limited the opposition’s leading scorer far below her scoring average. Facing SUNYIT’s Lyndsey Brognano, the NEAC’s Player of the Year, Bandrowski limited Brognano to just 10 points on 3 of 7 shooting during a 62-60 home win over first-place SUNYIT on Feb. 11. Brognano averaged 18.2 ppg. as SUNYIT earned the overall No. 1 seed for the upcoming NEAC tournament.
The Storm hosts No. 3 SUNY Cobleskill at 7 p.m. Tuesday night in a first-round NEAC playoff game.
