BOXSCORE
For the second time in a week, the Keuka College men’s lacrosse team used a big scoring run to defeat Cazenovia College, and after Saturday’s win, the Storm is one win away from successfully defending its North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) postseason crown.
Freshman James Voigt (Penn Yan, NY/Penn Yan) scored a career-high seven points on three goals and four assists and junior Mike Crumlish (Hilton, NY/Hilton) added three goals and an assist as the No. 2 Storm (10-4) routed No. 3 Cazenovia (7-8) 16-6 in the semifinals of the NEAC tournament Saturday afternoon at Morrisville State University.
Keuka, which defeated Morrisville 8-7 in the 2011 title game, advances to face No. 4 Medaille College (8-6) at 1 p.m. Sunday in the NEAC title game. Medaille defeated Morrisville State (10-4) 10-9 in Saturday’s other semifinal.
The Green and Gold, which has now made the NEAC title game the last three seasons, defeated Medaille 13-10 in Buffalo on April 11.

The Storm (10-4) won its last seven conference games to earn the No. 2 seed in the tournament, including a 15-4 dismantling of Cazenovia April 28 on Senior Day. In that contest, Voigt scored a career-best five goals and the Storm went on a 5-0 first-half run and a 7-0 second-half run to win.
In the NEAC semis, Cory Tilton staked Caz to a 1-0 lead just 42 seconds in before the Storm attack exploded for 12 unanswered goals to take a 12-1 halftime lead. Voigt knotted the score at 1-all off a feed from freshman Derek Pfeiffer (Lee Center, NY/Rome Free Academy) one minute after Tilton’s goal, and freshman Steve Ruggles (Corning, NY/Corning) put the Storm on top for good off a feed from Voigt with 12:04 remaining in the first.
Crumlish, senior Gino Marcello (Rochester, NY/Churchville-Chili) and Voigt each tallied goals during a two-minute span midway through the first for a 5-1 Keuka lead, and it remained that way until freshman Anthony Luppino (Penn Yan, NY/Penn Yan) scored 1:01 into the second.
Crumlish scored twice with an assist, Voigt had a goal and two assists and junior Chris Redington (Tully, NY/Tully) added two goals during a 7-0 second quarter to put away the Wildcats.
A stout Storm defense clamped down and blanked the Wildcats for nearly 40 minutes until Jevon Pakkala’s goal with 5:03 remaining in the third made the score 13-2 Keuka. Sophomore Mike Donals (Livonia, NY/Livonia) tacked on two fourth-quarter goals to finish off the Keuka scoring.
Freshman Eric Saltrelli (Webster, NY/Webster Schroeder) made 11 saves and classmate Scott Thielman (Amherst, NY/Amherst) added two saves for the Storm, which has not lost to a NEAC foe since a 12-8 loss to Morrisville State on March 31.
Luppino and sophomore Zachary Koczent (Geneva, NY/Geneva) each scooped up five ground balls, and Luppino (7-for-9) and Koczent (6-for-8) helped the Storm win 17 of 26 faceoffs.
