Men’s XC Places 11th at SUNYIT Meet

MEN’S RESULTS
Sophomore Lee Bottoni (Prattsburgh, NY/Prattsburgh) placed 24th among scoring runners to pace the Keuka College men’s cross country team during its season-opening meet, the SUNYIT Wildcat Invitational Saturday in Utica.
Bottoni, who earned third-team All-North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) as a freshman, ran the 6K course in a time of 21 minutes, 58 seconds, 55 seconds behind SUNYIT’s Derek Struck, who won the race in a course-record time of 19:53.3.
On a hot, steamy race day, the Storm placed 11th out of 16 teams, scoring 260 points. SUNY ESF won with 38 points, followed by SUNYIT (64), Hobart College (125), Paul Smith’s College (147), SUNY Canton (160), Penn State-Abington (171), Morrisville State (175), Sage College (191), Mohawk Valley Community College (202) and Wells College (226).
Sophomore Alex Pollinger (Arkport, NY/Arkport) finished 43rd among scoring runners with a time of 22:55, classmate Sam Capozzi (Alpine, NY/Odessa-Montour) was 47th with a time of 23:20, sophomore Bobby Fogle (Lockport, NY/Lockport) was 67th with a time of 24:47 while freshman Richard Matrassi (New York Mills, NY/NY Mills) rounded out the top five with a 79th-place finish after crossing the finish line in 27:19.6
More than 145 runners from 16 colleges competed in the Wildcat Invitational.
Keuka returns to action with the SUNY Oswego Invite, Saturday, Sept. 8 in Oswego.
