Women’s XC Places 10th at Season Opener

WOMEN’S RESULTS
Freshman Allison Bonin (Orwell, PA/Northeast Bradford) got her Keuka cross country career off to a great start during Saturday’s season-opening SUNYIT Wildcat Invitational in Utica.

Competing for the first time as a member of the Green and Gold, Bonin ran the 5K course in 23 minutes, 51.4 seconds, good for a 34th-place finish among scoring runners as the Storm earned a 10th-place at the 16-team meet.

On a hot, steamy race day, the Storm placed 10th out of 16 teams, scoring 279 points. William Smith won with 42 points, followed by SUNY ESF (60), the Culinary Institute (125), Sage College (125), SUNY Potsdam (136), Wells College (145), SUNY Canton (167), Mohawk Valley Community College (229) and Morrisville State (256).

After Bonin, senior Elizabeth Gorman (Waverly, NY/Waverly) was 50th among scoring runners with a time of 25:18.9; junior Samantha Yavorek (Canandaigua, NY/Canandaigua) placed 58th with a time of 26:00; sophomore Courtney Woolever (Vestal, NY/Vestal) placed 60th with a time of 26:14.8 and freshman Caitlin Jones (Weedsport, NY/Weedsport) rounded out the top five with a 77th-place finish (28:51.9).

More than 125 runners from 16 colleges competed in the Wildcat Invitational.

Keuka returns to action with the SUNY Oswego Invite, Saturday, Sept. 8 in Oswego.
