Bottoni Once Again Leads Men’s Cross Country

MEN’S RESULTS
Sophomore Lee Bottoni (Prattsburgh, NY/Prattsburgh) placed 44th among scoring runners to lead the Keuka College men’s cross country team during its second meet of the season at Saturday’s SUNY Oswego Invitational in Oswego.

Bottoni, who earned third-team All-North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) as a freshman, ran the 8K course in a time of 29 minutes, 47.2 seconds as the Storm scored 290 points.

Sophomore Alex Pollinger (Arkport, NY/Arkport) finished 50th among scoring runners with a time of 30:15, classmate Bobby Fogle (Lockport, NY/Lockport) was 59th in a time of 31:25, sophomore Sam Capozzi (Alpine, NY/Odessa-Montour) was 61st with a time of 32:07 while junior Brian DelPino (Oneida, NY/Oneida) rounded out the top five with a 76th-place finish after crossing the finish line in 36:35.6

University of Rochester junior Yuji Wakimoto captured the individual title, racing in 26;09.4 to win by 4.5 seconds.

On a rain-filled day, the Storm placed 10th out of 12 teams, scoring 290 points. The University of Rochester captured the team title with 17 points, followed by Ithaca College (51), SUNY ESF (92), host SUNY Oswego (126), SUNYIT (172), Syracuse University (173), Hobart College (180), Morrisville State (199), Wells (252), Keuka, Onondaga Community College (297) and SUNY Potsdam (342).

More than 140 runners from 12 colleges competed in the Oswego Invitational.

Keuka returns to action with the Penn State-Abington Invite, Saturday, Sept. 15 in Abington.
